Biggar RFC v Currie Chieftains U15
The match with Biggar was a great example of competitive rugby between two clubs keen to develop their youth sections as much as possible. The level of skill on display was an exemplar of the approach the clubs take, and all involved should take great credit. The game was high tempo, high intensity and played with genuine sportsmanship. Biggar were well drilled with some talented individuals in a team that [...]
Stirling County RFC U15 v Currie Chieftains U15
We all witnessed some rugby fireworks at Bridgehaugh today. Both teams neither asked nor gave anything without having to work (hard) for it. There was some wonderful rugby on display from both teams, and the match was played with a level of sportsmanship that everyone involved with the boys should be proud of. The first half was very tight with action all over the field and some truly outstanding defence [...]
Currie Chieftains U15 v Hamilton RFC U15
A solid performance against a spirited Hamilton side today at Malleny. The sun shone, the pitch was in great nick and we were given a good display of running rugby, played in a great spirit from both sides. Chieftains had a couple of players back from injury today, but the best outcome was the further development of the boys in positions they are not overly familiar with. Our aim of [...]
Currie Chieftains U15 v Boroughmuir RFC U15
Despite a (much) higher than tolerable penalty count, the boys kept their structure and put together some great cohesive rugby across the pitch. Solid defence is evidenced in the score, but more important was the communication on the pitch to ensure cover was present and tackles were being made. A very strong performance. The final score was Boroughmuir RFC 0 - 60 Currie Chieftains. Chieftains tries came from Crombie, Hardie [...]
Currie Chieftains U15 v Highland RFC
It is always a pleasure to welcome Highland RFC to Malleny. Today, in sometimes trying meteorological conditions, the boys managed to put on a creditable show of rugby. Frustrations crept into the play at times, and led to periods of inconsistency from both sides. But they kept at it, kept communicative, and were as aware (as anyone) of what areas required improvement in terms of defence, penalty count and doing [...]
Currie Chieftains v West of Scotland – 24th Sept 17
There were some very encouraging individual performances on the field today. The boys showed what they could do with some real stand out phases of play. Tackling still needs work, but there was good structure and the new positional 'tests' seem to go well. Well done to all the boys for turning it on today. It is always a pleasure to meet up with the players and coaches from West, [...]
