Proud Sponsor

Youth Section

Currie Chieftains are proud of their youth section and the players, coaches and myriad of volunteers who drive the section from strength to strength. We operate squads from P1 right through to U16, serving enthusiastic rugby players (and their parents) from across west Edinburgh and into West Lothian and beyond.
The focus is on enjoyment, development, and fun. Rugby is a great sport to foster teamwork, improve physical well-being, develop social skills, how to lose and win, build self-esteem and confidence…. and make friends.
Operating squads from P1 to U16, the younger players at Currie Chieftains take part in regular fixtures and tournaments and the older players (U13-U16) participate in Scottish Rugby’s Shogun Conference, as well as playing friendly fixtures against rugby clubs from across Scotland.

At the heart of what we do is safety. All coaches are ‘Rugby Right’ qualified and many go further to UKCC, refereeing and first aid training. All coaches are members of the Disclosure Scotland programme.
The Chieftains youth form part of the history, present and future of our club.

It all starts here…

Tournaments & Tours

Friendships forged both near and far…

Our mini-section take part in fixtures and tournaments across central Scotland. Have a look at the very full fixture card under each age group. Our youngest rugby starts of the future (P1 & P2) tend to focus on skills and fun, but they join their older chums at the annual Currie Mini Tournament to demonstrate how much they have learned. This event is one of the highlights of the mini-rugby tournament circuit.
Touring and hosting visiting teams is actively encouraged. Tours are generally organised at P6, U13 and U15, with squads visiting Scarborough, Manchester, Omagh, Newcastle and further afield.
We regular host touring teams at Malleny too. This forms bonds of friendship across the home nations and abroad.

A great celebration of friendships & sport…
