COACHES COMMENTS ON SELECTION
The pro draft has been kind to us this week with 4 players released which has certainly caused some selection headaches. Greg Peterson, Tevita Tameilau and Charlie Shiel all start having performed for us already this season. Kiran MacDonald will look to make an impact from the bench in what will be his first appearance as a Chieftain. Scott McGinley moves to the bench to accommodate while Rhys Davies and Marc Kelly are the unfortunate forwards to drop out of the squad completely. The backline sees Charlie Shiel start in place of Roan Frostwick who is on Scotland U19 duty, while Matt Hooks returns from injury and replaces Steven Hamilton who misses out all-together, as does Adam Hall due to the 4/1 split on the bench.
COACHES COMMENTS ON THE 1st XV MATCH
Last week’s performance was simply not good enough. Hawick brought an outstanding attitude to proceedings and this translated into an excellent defensive display however we did not make it difficult enough for them with a pretty one-dimensional attack. We’ve spent this week ensuring the boys know what we are good at and therefore how we need to play to win games of rugby. Stirling will travel to Malleny full of determination having let another match slip away at the death versus Ayr. Eddie has their forward pack well drilled, they have an excellent set piece and some really exciting backs. They will see this as a great opportunity to pick up points away from home having beaten us earlier on in the season and I’m sure they will have taken confidence from our display last weekend. However, it’s our last home game before Christmas and we will look to put in another big performance playing the exciting brand of rugby that the Currie faithful have become accustomed to seeing.
