Scotland Honours for Dave Cherry

This year has brought well-deserved success to former Currie Chieftains Hooker David Cherry.

Cherry became a full-time professional with London Scottish in 2014 and then played for Stade Niçoise in France before returning to Scotland to join Edinburgh Rugby in 2018. With Scotland internationalists Ross Ford (until June 2019) and Stuart McInally in the squad he faced stiff competition in selection. However, in the past year opportunities have arisen and in recent appearances for Edinburgh his performances have been outstanding. This was recognised by his selection for the Scotland playing squad for last Saturday’s England v Scotland international at Twickenham.

In a truly historic match, won 6-11 by Scotland, Dave came off the bench in the last quarter of the game to make his debut and gain full Scotland international honours. He also got his hands on the Calcutta Cup, which at Twickenham was a special bonus.

Everyone at Currie Chieftains sends Dave our warmest congratulations on his debut. We wish him all the very best for the future.
