The most impressive thing about the very unimpressive head high tackle in the match against Accies last Saturday was the response of Karen Barclay, our Head Doctor and Tracy McAdam, our Head Physiotherapist to what was clearly a bad injury to our centre DJ Innes.
Whisked off the pitch after an on field assessment, a visit to the medical room, advice from Azy, a sports dentist handily visiting the club for some practical experience and away to the hospital. No nonsense and all very efficient. Diagnosis by both Karen and Tracy was a fractured cheekbone which was later confirmed along with a fractured jaw.
I can’t remember a season with so many injuries. As soon as we get a player back another seems to get injured. Our excellent medical team has been working flat out to assess, monitor and provide support both physical and mental. They have been working three nights per week just to see all our injured and we should all be very grateful for making time for our players. It is why Currie is regarded so highly by the players who recognise the importance of their support.
So thank you:-
Fortunately we have tremendous depth in the Club and the As when they get to play are delivering some excellent results. This depth means we are able to field a regular third team. The “Mighty Schrees” are going from strength to strength and long may this continue.
Sadly I will miss the match this Saturday as I am away this weekend visiting my Mother. No doubt Currie will look to do the double on Accies as a fitting response to DJ’s injury.
