In a season where each match seems to bring more injuries and our thoughts are with Jack Duncan recovering after a dislocated shoulder, it was particularly encouraging to see Gregor Hunter back playing on Saturday. Gregor has been out for over 12 months with a damaged shoulder but you would never have known watching him play. Four conversions, two out wide, two penalties, a consummate passing game and a wonderful kicking game all contributed to a near-flawless performance. One kick from his own inside half was drilled to the corner with shouts of “no way” coming from the stand. Welcome back Gregor, as they say form is temporary but class is permanent.

We are down to the business end of the season for all sides. The As had a great win against Stewart’s Melville to maintain their third position only five points behind the joint leaders, Heriot's and Accies. Cammy Meager with three tries and Jacob Ramsey with two led the try fest. All to play for while the Mighty Schrees won on the road against Ross High to strengthen their position at the top of East Reserve Division Three. Well done to everybody.

Saturday’s matches were played following heavy rain. Indeed I was not sure the matches would be on when I woke up on Saturday morning. I need not have worried. Ivor and Alistair had done a great job as usual and the surfaces were in excellent nick. We really are very lucky in having these guys, very much unsung heroes. Thank you.

Saturday resulted in injuries to Chris Matthews, Jack Duncan and two from Stewart’s Melville, one of whom needed an ambulance. Matt Stewart, Tracy McAdam and Chris Gibson handled everything with aplomb as usual. We are very lucky to have such excellent highly qualified medical staff. Thank you.

Andy Bogle was the latest recipient of an honour cap. Andy played in all divisions from 1971 to 1989 and is a true legend. An outstanding fly half like Gregor, he has coached successfully at junior level and been involved in the Club along with his wife Shiona and son Cammy throughout his life. Lately he has been responsible for tidying up the club outside at the start of each season, a thankless task but one that is very much appreciated. His honour cap is much deserved.

Next week is the big one. At Hawick against the unbeaten Greens. Not the happiest of hunting grounds but what an opportunity. Please support if you can.
