"Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it"

Anybody who was at Hawick on Saturday will sympathise with this quote. Our boys gave it absolutely everything. After a difficult disjointed season, we put out an unchanged team for the first time and it showed.

There was not a Hawick supporter, Committee man or independent viewer who did not feel that Currie was the better side on the day. Sadly, it was not to be. Full credit to Hawick to come back at us in the dying seconds. We have been here before at least twice in my memory where Hawick have won the game in the dying seconds and Saturday was another brutal reminder “that it is not over until the fat lady sings”.

Commiserations abounded afterwards, I even had an elderly Hawick gentleman crying as he shook my hand in relief or commiseration, I am not sure which. One thing is certain there is a great deal of respect for Currie at Hawick. I had not realised that they had not won at Malleny in 17 years until this season and it is 21 years since they won the league so it is no surprise at their joy on winning. In the dying seconds.

For Currie, we need to get back into the saddle. We have never done well in cup competitions but there is no reason why we should not be able to contest another “final” on 29th April with the focus and determination we showed on Saturday. Our next match is on 25th March at home to Melrose. Please support.
