‘’The McColl report on aspects of the governance of Scottish rugby has just been published. It can be found at: http://scottishrugby.org/about-us/governance
The SRU Council and SRU Board have accepted its main recommendations in full. Specifically:Player Payment & Next Steps Both Council and the Board have accepted the Standing Committee’s recommendations in relation to Player Payment in full. The Board will now proceed to give effect to those recommendations.Super 6 Club XV Placement & Next Steps Both Council and the Board have accepted the Standing Committee’s recommendations in relation to Super 6 Club XV placement in full. This also needs an approval of the Clubs at an AGM or an SGM for it to be implemented. Council will proceed to requisition an SGM on those specific recommendations, in accordance with the Union’s Bye-Laws.Season and League Structure & Next StepsThe Standing Committee has recommended that a 10-team Premiership (or successor league) and three National Leagues each of 12 teams should be retained from the 2019/20 season (with a further review for the start of the 2021/22 season). However, Council considers that the further review of league and season structures (including regional/national rugby and the number of teams competing in leagues) should be progressed as soon as possible. Council has therefore asked the Standing Committee to work in collaboration with the Rugby Development Department in respect of that review process.
The Currie Chieftains Board will consider the report on Monday 4 February. A briefing meeting for all club members will be held at the club at 7.00 pm on 6 February.’’
