February 2020 50th Anniversary Update
As you are all by now no doubt aware Season 2020 – 2021 will see us celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Not a bad achievement for that little club from the outskirts of Edinburgh.
As a club we have achieved so much, produced so many players who have not only gone on to play for Edinburgh and Glasgow but have also gained international accolade.
On Wednesday 5th February Brian Porteous and Andy Bogle attended the Pentland Probus Group where they gave a presentation on the Club, this was greatly appreciated by all who attended. It is hoped that they can show their presentation in the club sometime in the future.
The limited-edition Anniversary Whisky is now on sale £50.00 a bottle, see Donna at the bar if you would like to purchase a one. This is selling well so don’t miss out get down to the club soon and purchase yours.
We have a game against Linlithgow in November, the date for this has still to be confirmed, it would be great to have a good support at this game. Currie hosted Linlithgow in their first ever game in 1970 and they would like to reciprocate the hospitality they received.
On 30th April 2021 we play the co-optimists at Malleny and on 1st May 2021 we end our celebrations with a ball at Dalmahoy.
The celebration’s will of course be kick started by the Youth Section on the 7th June 2020, they have a fantastic Gala Day planned.
Saturday 12th September 2020 is the 50th Anniversary Reunion Dinner at the Corn Exchange. A number of members and ex-players are travelling from far and wide to attend this event. Over 50 tables have been sold so far. It is not to late to book your ticket if you have not already done so.
Keep up to date on the club Facebook page; watch out for monthly updates with more details on all the planned events. If you would like further information on anything or would like to book tickets for the reunion dinner please contact Shiona at crfc50years@hotmail.com.
