Scottish Government Covid-19 Control of Transmission Measures

The First Minister in a statement to the Scottish Parliament has announced the introduction of new measures to control the spread and transmission of Covid-19 in Scotland. The Scottish Governments News release detailing the changes can be found at https://www.gov.scot/news/new-moves-to-stop-covid-19-spread/.

There are differences in the regulations as they apply to the 5 Health Board areas in the Central Belt and elsewhere in Scotland; and there are specific regulations covering different activities. The following therefore lists the elements that apply to Currie Chieftains rugby and our Clubhouse activities.

  1. At this stage there are no changes that affect youth rugby (below 18 yrs). Therefore, the club’s current training arrangements, including the Covid-19 risk management requirements will continue, as at present.
  2. Rugby training and playing for those of 18+ years and above will be suspended under the new regulations from the period 10 October to the 25 October inclusive, i.e. a period of 2 weeks and 3 weekends. Further information on personal training for adults and on the use of the gym is anticipated and will be advised as soon as the requirements are clear.
  3. The Clubhouse is ordered to be closed under the new regulations from 6pm on Friday 9 October to the 25 October inclusive.

We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience to Currie Chieftain members but these measures are beyond the club's control. We will provide updated information if there is any significant change in the situation.
