Coronavirus (Covid-19): Currie Chieftains Advice to Club Members 14/3/20

In the light on UK and Scottish Government advice on restrictions on public gatherings and yesterday's statement by Scottish Rugby (https://www.scottishrugby.org/news/scottish-rugby-suspends-all-rugby-in-scotland) Currie Chieftains will introduce the following measures with immediate effect.

  1. All micro-Chieftains sessions will be suspended until further notice.
  2. All mini-rugby matches and training sessions will be suspended until further notice.
  3. All youth rugby matches and training sessions will be suspended until further notice.
  4. All senior rugby matches and training sessions will be suspended until further notice.

After the 29 March, Scottish Rugby will review its policies further. Should national policy change, Currie Chieftains will adjust its measures as appropriate.

Club members are also asked to note the following:

  1. The Edinburgh Academicals v Currie Chieftains on 14 March has been cancelled by Edinburgh Academicals, based on their in-club risk assessment.
  2. The Wales v Scotland match on the 14 March has been postponed.
  3. The Mini-rugby Tournament planned for the 29 March will be cancelled.
  4. The Youth Fun Day planned for 7 June will be postponed until the start of next season.
  5. Youth Tours are being reviewed in conjunction with the tour groups.
  6. Youth Development programmes will be reviewed in association with local Schools to seek a consistency of approach across sectors.
  7. The Clubhouse will be open at usual times subject to any future changes in circumstances. Advice and additional measures for hand washing have been introduced. Deep cleaning methods are being introduced, where appropriate.
  8. We ask all members to follow government guidelines and wash their hands thoroughly prior to leaving home and on arrival at the club.
  9. Also please follow government guidelines on the occurrence of cold or flu-like symptoms. Seek to avoid the risk of spread of infection, and adopt self-isolation, as necessary.

We regret the inconvenience and disruption that these measures will create in the normal running of the club. However, the present situation requires the introduction of new policies and a precautionary approach.

Currie Chieftains, 14-3-20
