The U18s have started their season in competitive mode and with a record of 2 out of three wins in the August period, as follows
Saturday 10 August: Hamilton U18 20 – Currie Chieftains U18 36
Well done to the boys today, great to get a first run out of the season and thanks to our hosts at Hamilton. Final score Hamilton 20 - Currie 36. Try scorers: Anderson (2), Bradshaw (2), Cokanasigia and Sayers. Crombie kicked 2 conversions, Hunter 1. All 22 players got good game time and well done to the 3 squad members not playing but along to support.
Saturday 17 August: Currie Chieftains U18 56 – Biggar RFC U18 26
Thanks to Biggar for travelling to Malleny for a final pre-season friendly before the league kicks off on 24 August. Both teams had big squads and it was great to see so many players enjoying their rugby. Everyone got a run out and for Currie the improvement from the previous match was very evident; well done team and coaches at training through the week. The final score Currie 56 Biggar 26. Tries across the team from McCall (2), Bradshaw, Bowman, Raphael, Wales, Crombie and S Lomani. One hundred percent kicking success rate from Sprott (5), Crombie (2) and Rice. Some fantastic tries and special mention for Bradshaw for the 'assist' for McCall's 2nd try (the length of the pitch except the last 5 yards!)
Saturday 24 August: Cartha Quens Park U18 31 – Currie Chieftains U18 14
The opening league game was a tough encounter at Cartha Queen’s Park. With thanks to our hosts for agreeing to an early KO, players and support made it back to Murrayfield in time for the start of the International match. The U18 match was a highly competitive affair victory going to the home side. Final score was Cartha QP U18s 31 Currie Chieftains U18s 14. Chieftains tries came from Crombie and Bradshaw, both converted by Sprott.
