The match with Biggar was a great example of competitive rugby between two clubs keen to develop their youth sections as much as possible. The level of skill on display was an exemplar of the approach the clubs take, and all involved should take great credit.

The game was high tempo, high intensity and played with genuine sportsmanship. Biggar were well drilled with some talented individuals in a team that showed great togetherness and cohesion. Credit must also be given to the Chieftains boys as the altered their game plan, changed emphasis, and stayed calm and structured in the face of a very competitive opposition.

The final score was Biggar RFC 17-45 Currie Chieftains with tries from Crombie, Cullen and Cavens (a brace each) and a forwards try from captain Armsworth. McCallum showed great skill with the boot in converting five goals.

Man of the match was local boy O'Donnell, with Cullen (another local boy) picking up defender of the week and Donoghue attacker of the week. Well done to those boys, and to the whole team for the effort they showed on the pitch and the comradeship they demonstrated off it.

Thanks, as ever, to the folks at Biggar RFC. Always a pleasure to visit for sport and hospitality.
