Light at the End of the Tunnel
Through a combination of her statements on the 11 March and 16 March First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has shown a light at the end of the tunnel for all the rugby clubs, other sports clubs and sport and hospitality businesses who have been striving to survive during the various pandemic lockdowns over the past 12 months.
With immediate effect the Club is now able to restart outdoor activities involving contact for the U-12 players, which limited non-contact can be started for other groups. All of course will be subject to the normal risk analysis and safety procedures. Please look out for further communications from your group/team coaches and the Covid Coordinator, to keep informed as activities restart.
Importantly, in yesterday’s announcement the First Minister gave a longer-term view of the Scottish Government’s plans for re-opening parts of society over the next few months. Key dates for rugby clubs were:
2 April: ‘Stay home’ changes to ‘Stay local’.
5 April; Outdoor contact sport for 12-17 year olds.
26 April: Gyms can open and rules on numbers of people who can gather to socialise relax (a little). Clubs open outdoors for service of alcohol, possibly indoors for non-alcoholic beverages.
17 May: Outdoor contact sports for adults and indoor group exercise allowed.
Early June: Scotland moves to Covid Level 1.
End June: Scotland moves to Covid Level 0.
The sun has started shining and our local World is beginning to look like a better place already!
